Karin VanLandeghem is the co-leader with Brandi-Duke-Shamberger of CROSSWALK Children’s Ministry at Harford Community Church. Originally from Pennsylvania, she spent her childhood in the suburbs of Philadelphia, went to school in Reading, PA and Philadelphia, PA for her vocation as an ultrasound technologist. She grew up attending Green Tree Church of the Brethren in Oaks, PA where she was very active in a legacy of serving alongside her parents and grandparents, even at a young age. She attended VBS, sang in choirs, played on the hand-bell team, and as a teen in the youth group developed a strong faith foundation, as well as met her future husband.

Karin was baptized in 1983 and has continued cultivating serving the Lord in various capacities in the churches she attended. She married her husband, Edward in 1993 and moved to Lancaster County, PA engaging with a community of believers in Lititz, PA. Along the way, she has performed in a variety of capacities: choirs, dramas, making costumes for theater productions, sign language worship team, hospitality, VBS, nursery worker, and children’s teacher. All these searching roles led to her “Ah-Ha moment” while attending a children’s ministry conference in Illinois. It became evident that God had wired her with the passion to minister to children in creative ways, including her two daughters Moriah and Jillian, now teens themselves, who continue the legacy of serving alongside her in the ministry.

Interestingly, she met both Associate Pastor and Programming Director Greg Shirk, and her CROSSWALK co-leader Brandi, at the Lititz church and as God directed each of their paths at the right time, brought Karin and her family to Maryland in 2006, connecting again at Harford Community Church to continue serving the Lord doing ministry together.
